why tarot?

The Tarot is extraordinary because it is a profound and inspired art form, as well as a tool of magick, divination, and self-excavation. The 78 cards comprise a complete map of the human psyche, and contain the full spectrum of archetypal experiences, making it an indispensable ally in seeking clarity about ourselves and the world. I believe that the Tarot was developed by generations of mystics to help our consciousness evolve, to bring us closer to our Selves, and to shed light on our unique paths as we walk through the labyrinth of this wild life.

My approach to Tarot combines the syncretic traditions of western occultism—namely astrology and qabalah— with depth psychology, creating a style of reading that focuses on the inner world and our relation to the greater universe. We might examine patterns of thought and behaviour, belief systems, and questions of identity that are sparked through the cards, as we ascertain where we’re at in the present moment, and how we can best move forward in a way that prioritizes personal evolution and self-compassion.

It is my greatest joy and privilege to witness both the inner and outer lives of folks through the medium of Tarot cards. I will always do my best to create a safe space for you to be seen and held in, as we work together to uncover and integrate the wisdom that the Tarot has to offer you.

This magickal deck of cards functions as a mirror to our internal states, with every card holding a unique opportunity for healing and transformation. It can be both liberating and confronting to see our inner worlds reflected back to us in the tarot, which paves the way for a blossoming of curiosity and self-awareness to occur. There are no bad cards in the Tarot— only opportunities for growth.

Because the Tarot forms a schematic of the human soul and psychology, and is rich with archetypes and symbols, we can use the cards intentionally as prompts to explore lesser-known aspects of ourselves, and our spiritual natures. By meditating and working the cards in this way, we connect to the Self, as Jung called it— past the ego, to a place of pure, ancient intuition.

When we work with the Tarot and come into greater awareness of the many aspects of Self that make up our personalities, we place ourselves on a transformative path of expansion, of union between the conscious and unconscious mind. These cards are here to help us in this quest for integration, so that we can live our lives with a knowing that we are whole, spiritual beings, with unique purpose.
